Stepinac beats RTH in consolation game

In the consolation, senior Steven Yankowski scored the game's final three goals in a span of three minutes, 31 seconds early in the third period as Stepinac defeated Rye Town/Harrison 6-4.

All three were assisted by junior Rocco Miano, and came after Matt Baer gave the Titans (0-9-1) a 4-3 lead with 51 seconds left in the second period.

"In the second intermission, the captains talked about how we can't lost to teams like this," Yankowski said. "We have to get back on a winning streak."

Both teams gave up 10 goals in the first round here on Saturday night. Stepinac (6-5), who usually has only 13 players on the roster, was further hampered because two players were out this weekend.

"It's usually hard to get back from a 10-1 loss (to Mamaroneck), but we just dug down and we said we don't want to be losers this whole season," Yankowski said.

Yankowski finished with four goals, while Miano, the area's third-leading scorer entering the weekend, had a goal and five assists. Adam Urban had a goal and two assists for the Titans
